WiT Virtual: Rethinking Trade Exhibitions

Of all the segments within the MICE sector, trade shows and exhibitions are probably most challenged. While it’s relatively easier to move meetings and conferences to a virtual format, huge exhibitions which offer marketplaces, buyer-seller matching and appointments and physical demonstrations of goods and services, are harder to replicate online. Hinging on trust and handshakes, their scale also makes it more challenging to stage in the age of Covid-19 with all its restrictions around health and safety protocol.

How is the sector responding? What lessons have been learnt as the industry adapts? Will there be changes in consumer behaviour that will be forged out of this crisis that will force a rethink of the entire value chain that supports this multi-billion dollar industry? What tech solutions are out there to support the move to a hybrid world? How can event organisers monetise their investments in virtual/hybrid events?
